The Brief

Howorth Air Technology www.howorthgroup.com have been clean air pioneers since 1858. They design, manufacture and assemble ultra clean air equipment for use in operating theatres, and for the pharma, biotechnology and life science industries.

To meet growing demand & future expansion plans they relocated to a flagship 33,000 sq ft north west development.

Edb were appointed to provide design proposals, CAT B works & furniture procurement for the office space.

After being appointed to provide design proposals for Howorth Air Technology edb worked with the management team to find out about company culture & the main objectives for this project.

Howorth wanted to create a space that would enable increased interaction between different departments & a working environment to support their growth.

With a brief to bring multiple job functions & staff together into one site we designed different areas to support this. Closed meeting booths for private meetings, open work booths for collaborative working & stand up meeting spaces compliment the hot desk areas throughout the site.

A welcoming reception area greets staff & visitors alike with stylish furniture & coffee machine with integrated drinks fridge.  The large canteen space provides employees with the opportunity to break away from their desks & interact with colleagues from all departments.

Design Process

Undertaking the full CAT B works & furniture procurement meant that each element of the design was carefully considered to create the first class office space Howorth required.

To support Howorth’s sustainability initiatives, our design team opted for locally-sourced, eco-friendly materials which have a low carbon impact.

All desks, storage and planter units are made from sustainably-sourced materials. The acoustic booths are 100 per cent recyclable, as is the new flooring.

Build

Starting off with an empty CAT A office space, partitions were built to create individual offices & meeting rooms. Crittal style glazing was used throughout the scheme with complimentary decoration to tie in with Howorth’s branding.

Feature flooring was installed to distinguish specific areas, acoustic timber wall panels & hanging acoustic baffles were used throughout the large open space.

Deliver

Following a collaborative design process we were thrilled to deliver a first class office space for Howorth Air Technology.
