Seddon Plant & Engineering
Providing equipment to the construction industry and catering to both the elevated trade and commercial landscaping sectors, Seddon Plant and Engineers sought a modern space that would be highly functional for the team.
Exclsve tasked us with transforming a former clothes retail store into one of Manchester’s most luxurious and exclusive bars and restaurants. Its interior design had to compete with other high-end hospitality venues, with a demand for second-to-none craftsmanship across the scheme of the design.
Project Type - Design, build & fit out
Sector - Hospitality fit out
Project Turnaround - Eight weeks
Project Size - 3,500 sq. ft.
Despite having previously worked with the team at Exclsve, on the fit out of a solicitor’s office, we took the time to fully understand their needs and their vision for the bar. Only then could we create a space that would enhance their brand and exceed expectations.
In the early phases of the project, we collaborated with an interior architect consultant at
Hattons Creative Consultancy. We worked together to design concepts that would help capture the essence of the brand and give the client confidence we were delivering a bar to rival the fierce local competition.
Delivering to the high standards of Exclsve’s elegant portfolio of bars whilst overseeing a complete transformation of use for the property would be no mean feat. Procuring materials of superior quality would require an unparalleled eye for detail.
We developed a rich and sophisticated colour palette, complemented by exquisite materials and finishes to create a space that blends the spectacular with functionality for seamless staff operations.
The ground floor blends visual grandeur with a space that easily accommodates staff needs to provide flawless service. The scope of design saw us establish a functional floorplan, banquet and U-shaped booth seating, waiter stations, accessible toilets, storage facilities and an impressive welcoming area marked with striking biophilia. The first floor comprises wooden slotted wall cladding, a bar styled with a stunning underlit worksurface and flourishes of gold.
The bar boasts versatility, with a dedicated DJ space and a private dining room situated downstairs available for hire, offering visitors a one-of-a-kind experience.
The broad ranging fit out process included the installation of electrical, mechanical, flooring and bar and kitchen. With Paul and Jeni overseeing the project, EDB was able to give regular updates to the client, providing them with assurance and transparency at each stage.
The final build comprises floors with a mixture of warm oak and modern concrete to differentiate each section. The walls are a mix of deep green and navy with several types of wallpaper, including a subtle snakeskin, a large banana leaf print in teal and a brushed gold effect to add nuance and texture throughout.
The vertical oak panelling serves as an acoustic treatment for the space, whilst adding a rich and natural aesthetic. A large bespoke mirror, designed and made by artist, Ruth Parker, helps give the effect of grandeur and makes the space feel much larger, without losing its cosiness.
Brushed brass and biophilia coalesce across all the hanging light fittings, with other brushed brass flourishes sprinkled throughout the space, from the beer taps to chair legs and plant pots.
A gold, geometric lion’s head adds a final touch, amplifying the Exclsve branding in a unique, eye-catching way.
By bringing together high-specification materials, eye-catching biophilia and nuanced interior design, we were able to create a spectacular space that met the client’s detailed specifications.
Andrew Doyle, the owner of Exclsve Bar, said: “When we got the keys to the property, formerly a retail shop, it was literally an empty shell and bare walls. The bar is unrecognisable from that. The luxurious feel of the bar interior is spot on and more than we could have hoped for. It fits the Exclsve brand and it was important that we created a unique space that matched similar exclusive hospitality venues in the area. We’re so pleased to have worked with Paul and Jeni on the project.”
